The ongoing 2nd edition of Synod Secretaries and Diocesan Statisticians zonal retreat on Digital Integration of Church Management Operations was held at Banham Methodist Cathedral, Aggrey road, Port Harcourt on Saturday 28th May, 2022 for South South Zone.
The Archbishop of Archdiocese of Port Harcourt and chief host, His Grace, Most Rev. Emmanuel Udofia welcomed about 60 delegates from Dioceses in the South South and declared the retreat open after giving his opening charge. In his message to participants taken from Ezra 2:1ff, he remarked that God was interested in statistics and urged them to cooperate with the Church leadership in the ongoing efforts to get accurate statistics of Methodist people, MCN property data inventory etc with the help of digital technology transformation. The former Conference Lay President, Sir Jimmy Nath Coker, KJW participated in the retreat and commended Prelate Uche-led administration for the innovative and proactive leadership especially for establishing a Research and Documentation Office at Wesley House, Marina Lagos after the initial attempt by the past administration without success.
The retreat was a hands-on demonstration of the portals developed to automate ministers and church property data as well as Methodist members Directory nationwide. Very Rev. Godwin C. Onovo, Ph.D, Conference Director of Research, Documentation & Services and John Efiong of the Department of Computer Science, Wesley University, Ondo were the facilitators at the retreat.
Technologies run the world and digital technology transformation has become a great game changer in driving global economies, industries, corporations and of course Churches and ministries in meeting set goals. Methodist Church Nigeria is ever committed, willing and able to enhance and sustain corperate performance and online presence to reclaim her pride of place as the foremost Christian denomination in the shores of Nigeria. We are the first Church and we shall remain the first in Nigeria.
The next zonal retreat comes up on Saturday 4th June, 2022 at Methodist Cathedral, Wuse 3, Abuja for the Northern zone and Monday 6th June, 2022 for the Central Region (Archdiocese of Benue) at Norcross Cathedral, Otukpo. Worthy is the Lamb!
